PERFORMING WITH VARIOUS FRIENDS

The Happy Traum Band in the early '80s: Roly Salley (bass), Larry Campbell (fiddle and everything else with strings) and I did a bunch of gigs together, most memorably a couple of great European tours and a "live" recording called "Friends & Neighbors".

In 1977 we were asked to put together a "Mud Acres Reunion" tour in Japan. This was the cover of the program book, drawn by Ashura Ito to look like a Mad Magazine cover. Pictured are (l. to r.) Arlen Roth, Bill Keith, John Herald, Jim Rooney and Artie Traum. Always the teacher, I'm showing Alfred E. Neuman how to play a chord.

The Woodstock Mountains Revue did a European tour in 1979. Here, Jim Rooney, Bill Keith, Larry Campbell, Artie Traum and Pat Alger play the streets in (I think) Switzerland.

Another Joyous Lake show, late '70s. Here I'm wailing away with John Herald, John Sebastian and Paul Butterfield. Catherine Sebastian took this shot.

This amazing photo recently surfaced and was sent to me by the author Elijah Wald. Rev. Gary Davis is playing at a party surrounded by admirers. That's a very young Jane and myself behind the bass player. Dick Weissman is to our left, John Gibbon is playing guitar. This photo was probably taken in 1959.
